Reporting & perspective
WigWag Media
Original reporting, interviews, rankings, analysis and cultural coverage that explain the people, companies, industries and ideas shaping Africa—and the global developments that affect them.
About WigWag Africa
We track global developments, interpret their implications for Africa, and publish ranked intelligence on the companies, people, industries and markets shaping the continent.
Our mission
To make global and African business information easier to discover, understand, connect and use.
Our vision
To build a leading intelligence infrastructure for understanding African economies and their place in the global economy.
Why we exist
Africa does not lack ambition, talent or ideas. But information about its businesses, people, industries, markets and opportunities is often fragmented across sources, formats and institutions. Finding it is one challenge. Understanding how it connects—and keeping it useful over time—is another.
WigWag began as a media platform covering business, technology, music and culture. Publishing gives us a way to report on the world, examine what it means for Africa, and build relationships with the audiences and organizations shaping its economies. It is also a starting point for collecting and organizing knowledge that can be used beyond an individual article.
Our direction is to connect that publishing activity with structured information: ranked indexes of companies, founders and wealth, industry coverage, research, market developments and the relationships between them. You can already see this work in our ranked lists of African banks, unicorns, billionaires and more. Over time, this foundation will support better search, research tools, data services and AI-assisted products.
We are building toward that ambition step by step. The goal is not simply to publish more information, but to make useful information easier to find, verify, connect and apply.
Our operating model
Each layer has a distinct role. Media builds reach and creates useful source material. Intelligence organizes knowledge. Technology helps people search, connect and use it. Commercial services turn specific capabilities into value for customers.
Reporting & perspective
Original reporting, interviews, rankings, analysis and cultural coverage that explain the people, companies, industries and ideas shaping Africa—and the global developments that affect them.
Structured knowledge
Ranked indexes and connected information about African companies, founders, investors, institutions, industries and markets. We organize research and public information so relationships, activity and opportunities are easier to discover and understand.
Technology & discovery
AI-assisted search, discovery and data products designed to make African business information more accessible and useful. We are developing these tools around the quality, structure, sourcing and freshness of the information behind them.
Research & commercial services
Research, market intelligence, media partnerships and communications support for businesses and institutions that need clearer context on African markets and audiences.
Africa’s economies do not operate in isolation. Technology, capital, policy, trade, culture and global business decisions shape opportunities and constraints across the continent.
WigWag follows developments beyond Africa when they matter to African markets, while documenting the companies, people and ideas emerging from within them. Our focus is the connection between global change and African realities—not geography for its own sake.
Who we serve
We are developing our work for audiences who need to understand markets, organizations and the forces changing them.
Understand sectors, build visibility and identify relevant partners and opportunities.
Explore companies, industries and market developments across African economies.
Access clearer context on the organizations, activity and trends shaping markets.
Discover useful reporting and information about Africa and its place in the world.
Companies and research organizations that need structured, citable African business and entity data—information that general-purpose AI systems can struggle to retrieve consistently.
How we work
We look beyond headlines to explain why developments matter and how they connect.
We work to organize scattered information into connected, discoverable knowledge.
Reliable intelligence depends on transparent sourcing, careful verification and clear distinctions between known facts and analysis.
Founder & Tech Lead
Founder & Technical Lead, WigWag Africa
Peter founded WigWag Africa around a problem he sees from Uganda and across the continent: valuable information about who is building, investing, creating and shaping industries is often scattered and difficult to understand as a whole.
With a background in software engineering and product thinking, he is building WigWag from a publishing platform into a connected system for African business and technology intelligence—combining original reporting, ranked indexes and structured data.
Under his direction, WigWag has been cited by Google’s AI Overviews for African business queries—an early signal of the platform’s potential as a structured reference source for African information.
